My work
Between May 2010 and October 2010, I worked on the French ANR project ROMMA on detection of interferences between CAD models.Between April 2009 and April 2010, I worked on the HandNavigator, an immersive peripheral device allowing the control of a virtual hand using 10 or more degrees of freedom in virtual worlds. This work is an extension of the work of Paul G. Kry who developed and patented the first version of this device (more information on this version here).
- Our paper presented at 2010 ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences & Computers and Information in Engineering Conference (IDETC/CIE) received the Virtual Environments & Systems Technical Committee Best Paper Award!
- The HandNavigator is cited in French media ! L'Usine Nouvelle N. 3200-3201 (July 8th, 2010) (in French) (also on the website of Association Promouvoir la Réalité Virtuelle, in French)
- Our paper presented at 2010 Virtual Reality International Conference (VRIC) received the Conference Best Paper Award!
- The HandNavigator was presented at Laval Virtual 2010 and at GIF 2009 (Grenoble Innovation Fair).
- The different versions of the HandNavigator: different sensor's technologies are used to allow better dexterity of manipulation and an intuitive use without tiredness and initial calibration. Our latest prototype integrates passive feedback allowing better immersion in virtual worlds and better quality of interaction.
- Applications: object grasping for industrial design for assembly, object deformation, .... Videos in wmv format.
Before joining the EVASION team in April 2009, I was a Ph. D. student from Montpellier II University, at LIRMM (the thesis was done at CNRS/AIST Joint Robotics Laboratory (JRL) in Tsukuba, Japan) (more information on my work here).
